๐Ÿ‘‹ Welcome

PTA Junior Competition is a weekly Saturday team tennis competition where players represent Their Tennis Club against other local clubs across the Mornington Peninsula.

It’s designed to help players complement their coaching sessions, putting their skills into practice with real match play, building confidence, independence and a lifelong love of tennis.


๐Ÿงญ What this Competition is

This is a team-based junior competition program focused on:

  • Learning match play in a real competition environment
  • Developing confidence under pressure
  • Understanding scoring and rules
  • Building teamwork and sportsmanship
  • Enjoying tennis in a supportive club environment


๐ŸŽพ Age Groups

Players compete in one of two divisions:

12 & Under

  • Played using Green Ball (low compression)
  • Designed to support developing players
  • Encourages longer rallies and better technique

12 & Over

  • Played using standard yellow tennis balls
  • Full-court match play
  • More advanced tactical development

  • Day: Saturday mornings
  • Start time: 8:15am
  • Season: Summer (October – March)
  • Location: Home at YOUR Tennis Club or away at other PTA clubs

Match duration is typically 1.5 - 2 hours, depending on format and conditions.

At Tennis Works, our goal is to help players transition from learning skills in coaching sessions to confidently playing “real tennis” in a supportive team environment.


The PTA Junior Competition provides players with the opportunity to

  • Represent your Tennis Club
  • Play weekly team matches
  • Develop confidence
  • Learn scoring & match routines
  • Build sportsmanship & resilience
  • Enjoy tennis with friends


For many players, this will be their first experience playing organised weekend competition and travelling to other clubs across the Mornington Peninsula region.

  • Day: Saturday mornings
  • Start time: 8:15am
  • Season: Summer (October – March)
  • Location: Home at YOUR Tennis Club or away at other PTA clubs
  • Match Duration: Matches typically take 1.5 - 2hrs (budget around 30mins per set) - This can be extended in the event of long sets or when court availability is low

    Matches alternate between

    • Home matches at YOUR Club
    • Away matches at other PTA clubs

    Families will receive weekly fixtures showing

    How do we receive updates?

    Weekly communication is sent via:

    • Team App
    • WhatsApp groups
    • Email or SMS

    Players should bring

    • Tennis racquet
    • Drink bottle
    • Hat
    • Sunscreen
    • Tennis shoes
    • Club shirt/uniform if applicable
    • Snacks/light food

    Junior competition is designed to help players learn


    • Scoring
    • Serving rotations
    • Doubles positioning
    • Match etiquette
    • Sportsmanship
    • Independence on court


    Players umpire many of their own matches while learning honesty, respect and problem solving within a tennis environment.

    Parents are encouraged to


    • Support effort over results
    • Create a positive match day environment
    • Allow players to solve problems independently
    • Leave coaching and tactical instruction to coaches/team managers

  • ๐Ÿค Team Selection

    Teams are entered based on

    • Player Level & Friendships
    • We try to strike the right balance of 'playing with friends' and 'player development'

    Weekly teams

    • Once teams have been selected players will be on a rotating roster
    • Aim is to give everyone the same number of matches throughout the season
    • All players are to take part in finals if the team makes it
    • If unavailable, families are asked to notify team managers as early as possible.
